Carbon Fiber Paddles
Carbon fiber paddles are kayak, canoe, SUP and dragon boat paddles with a blade and shaft made of carbon fiber composite, which makes them lighter and stiffer than fiberglass or aluminium paddles. G’Power has made carbon fiber paddles by hand in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland, since 2005. The shop covers 9 disciplines, from slalom and sprint kayak to dragon boat and outrigger. Most models come in four constructions, from CLUB for beginners to EXTREME for Olympic racers.

Four paddle constructions: EXTREME, ELITE, RACING and CLUB
The construction decides how much a paddle weighs and how well it takes knocks. G'Power uses four layups, and the outer layer gives each one its look and character:
- EXTREME: outer layers of spread tow carbon over multiaxial and unidirectional fibers. It is up to 15% lighter than standard 3K carbon and made for top athletes.
- ELITE: 3K carbon outer layers with unidirectional and multiaxial fibers inside. It is the most popular choice for experienced paddlers aged 16 and over.
- RACING: 3K carbon outside, with glass fibers and aramid-carbon inside. The blade is a little heavier and stands up better to knocks from other boats, which suits paddlers aged 12-16.
- CLUB: aramid-carbon outer layers over glass and carbon fibers. It is the toughest layup and the choice for beginners and juniors aged 10-14, at a lower price for the same blade shape the top racers use.
The full comparison of layups is in the guide what paddle construction to choose.
How to choose a carbon fiber kayak paddle
A carbon fiber kayak paddle is chosen in three steps: discipline, construction and size. The discipline sets the blade shape, because a slalom blade works differently in the water from a wing sprint blade. The construction follows your level and age. Size means blade area, paddle length and shaft diameter, and it depends on your body and your boat. The shaft comes straight or ergonomic (bent), as in the Hunter Ergo and Rile ERGO slalom paddles. Most models can be ordered in one piece or with the adjustable QNECT connector, which lets you change the length and split the paddle for transport.
Each discipline has its own sizing guide with numbers: slalom, sprint, whitewater, sea touring, SUP, dragon boat and outrigger. A comparison across all disciplines is in best carbon fiber kayak paddles.
Olympic athletes on G'Power paddles
G'Power paddles have won Olympic gold in canoe slalom and sprint canoe. Jessica Fox (Australia) won K1 and C1 slalom gold at Paris 2024 with a Revolution ELITE in C1 and an EXTREME paddle in K1. Sebastian Brendel (Germany) won C1 1000 m gold at London 2012 and Rio 2016 on the G'Power BIONIC. Beata Mikołajczyk-Rosolska (Poland) took Olympic silver in K2 500 m in 2008. The full roster is on the G'Power team page.
The founder, Rafał Głażewski, raced sprint kayak for Poland at the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympics. He designs the paddles, and the workshop works with 3D CAD/CAM software and a Lambda VTS 5D CNC milling machine.
Carbon fiber or fiberglass paddle
A carbon fiber paddle is lighter and stiffer than a fiberglass paddle with the same blade. G'Power's own SUP range shows the gap: the Warrior XTREME 1p in 100% carbon weighs 470 g with the M blade, while the Warrior Club 1p with 40% carbon weighs 675 g with the same blade. A fiberglass or mixed layup costs less and flexes more, which is easier on the joints of juniors. G'Power mixes glass fibers with carbon in its RACING and CLUB constructions, which makes them tougher against knocks and cheaper.

Frequently asked questions
Yes for racing and regular training, because a carbon fiber paddle weighs less and flexes less than a fiberglass paddle with the same blade. On G'Power SUP paddles with the M blade, 100% carbon weighs 470 g and 40% carbon weighs 675 g.
CLUB is the construction for beginners and juniors aged 10-14. Its aramid-carbon outer layers take knocks better than the lighter ELITE and EXTREME layups. RACING suits paddlers aged 12-16 who start racing.
