Match your height
Paddlers under 175 cm: 188-192 cm paddle length. 175-185 cm: 192-196 cm. Over 185 cm: 196-200 cm. Measure from ground to fingertip with arm raised.
Pick a tier
Club for beginners and juniors (aramid-carbon). Racing for aspiring competitors (3K carbon + glass). Elite for high-performance (3K + UD). Extreme for race-proven Spread Tow at top level.
Choose feather angle
45 degrees is the slalom standard. 60 degrees suits stronger forward strokes. 30 degrees reduces wrist strain for long sessions. Try both at a club session before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
Slalom paddle length is 188-200 cm, based on paddler height. A 175 cm paddler uses 190-192 cm. A 185 cm paddler uses 194-196 cm. Taller paddlers and those with longer torsos go toward 198-200 cm.
Spread Tow is up to 15 percent lighter than 3K carbon at the same stiffness. Race-proven by Olympic medalists. At the top tier of racing the weight savings matter. For club paddlers, 3K is stiff enough and costs less.
Slalom paddles are thinner and stiffer than whitewater paddles. They flex less against rocks. For river running pick a whitewater-specific paddle with thicker blade edges. For race training only, slalom paddles work.
With regular race and training use, 3-6 seasons. Blade tips wear first. Spread Tow and Extreme tier last longest. Avoid rock contact, store out of direct sun, rinse salt water after sea sessions.
